The Holiday Season

Well, the holiday season is upon us. I've been working feverishly to get Christmas gifts done for the whole family. I am glad to say I have an adult hat pattern, I created all on my own, on the way. I'm thinking I may try a slouch and possibly a children's version of it also. I will be posting the pattern a couple weeks after Christmas hopefully. Happy Holidays! Here's a preview of the hat.

Cabled Slouch

This isn't a pattern of my own but a modified pattern. I love Rheatheylia's Cable Hat pattern and have made multiple hats with it. So when I wanted to make a cute slouch hat I turned to a pattern I love.
Here's how I modified it:
Use hook size 6.5mm/K
Crochet as written for larger hat until rnd 12,
1st rnd 12: dc in between fpdc & bpdc (will make 3 bpdc next rnd)
Continue with the pattern as written but with 3 bpdc instead of 2.
Do 2 sets of the rnds 10-12 regularly,
on the next set of 10-12-
rnd 12: bpdc in 1st bpdc, bpdc2tog over next two bpdc.
Do one more set of rnds 10-12 (with 2 bpdc).
Switch to 4.25mm/G hook.
Crochet brim as written in pattern.

If you have any questions or anything needs clarification feel free to ask.

Hot Air Balloon Pattern

Well I suppose the first post is as good as any to post a crochet pattern, hopefully the first of many.

Hot Air Balloon
Hook size: 4mm/ 4.25mm G
Small amount of worsted weight yarn, your choice of color
Very small amount of brown worsted weight yarn for basket
(If you'd like you could probably use a bulkier or thinner yarn with different size hooks, I haven't tested it.)
Small amount of stuffing
Yarn needle

Notes: Don't join rounds. Place marker in last stitch and move up each rnd. Weave in top end before you start stuffing.
Balloon:
To begin: 6sc in adj ring (6 sc)
Rnd 1: 2 sc in each sc (12)
Rnd 2: 2 sc in sc, sc in next sc (rep around) (18)
Rnd 3: 2 sc in sc, sc in next 2 sc (rep around) (24)
Rnd 4: 2 sc in sc, sc in next 3 sc (rep around) (30)
Rnd 5: 2 sc in sc, sc in next 4 sc (rep around) (36)
Rnd 6: 2 sc in sc, sc in next 5 sc (rep around) (42)
Rnd 7: 2 sc in sc, sc in next 6 sc (rep around) (48)
Rnd 8: 2 sc in sc, sc in next 7 sc (rep around) (54)
Rnd 9-14: sc in each sc around (54)
Rnd 15: sc2tog, sc in next 7 sc (rep around) (48)
Rnd 16: sc in each sc around (48)
Rnd 17: sc2tog, sc in next 6 sc (rep around) (42)
Rnd 18: sc2tog, sc in next 5 sc (rep around) (36)
Rnd 19: sc2tog, sc in next 4 sc (rep around) (30)
Rnd 20: sc in each sc around (30)
Rnd 21: sc2tog, sc in next 3 sc (rep around) (24)
Rnd 22: sc2tog, sc in next 2sc (rep around) (18)
***Start stuffing, cont stuffing after each rnd***
Rnd 23-26: sc in each sc around (18)
Rnd 27: sc2tog, sc in next sc (rep around) (12)
Rnd 28: sc2tog around (6)
Finish off, add stuffing if needed, close circle when weaving in end.

Basket: (with brown)
To begin: 5sc in adj ring, join with sl st
Rnd 1: ch1, 2sc in each sc around, join (10)
Rnd 2: ch1, 2sc in sc, sc in next sc, join (15)
Rnd 3: ch1, in back loops only: sc in each sc around, join (15)
Rnd 4-5: ch1, in both loops: sc in each sc around, join (15)
Finish off, weave in ends.

Joining
Cut 4 pieces of identical lengths of yarn or thread, tie to basket and bottom of hot air balloon.
Optional:
Cut a piece of yarn or thread and attach to top for hanging.
